Health at COP30: Is climate change a health crisis?

As global temperatures continue to rise, the impacts of climate change are increasingly recognized as a direct threat to human health, extending far beyond environmental damage. According to the 2025 Lancet Countdown report, rising temperatures have pushed 12 out of 20 key health indicators tracking climate-related threats to record levels over the past year. A new study projects that carbon dioxide emissions will reach a record high in 2025, increasing 1.1 percent over 2024. Despite this, China remains committed to sustainable development, aligning with UNESCO's vision through the restoration of degraded ecosystems.
