Earth's climate swings increasingly out of balance, says WMO

Earth's energy imbalance reached a record high last year since 1960, the World Meteorological Organization concluded on March 23 in its state of climate report for 2025. The report also confirmed that 2015–2025 marked the hottest 11-year period on record. Adding to the list of bleak records, the US-based National Snow and Ice Data Center reports that Arctic sea ice has fallen to its lowest level ever recorded, tying last year's record. Rising global temperatures mean that glaciers are melting faster than previously seen, already impacting communities worldwide – making the need for global efforts to protect our planet's critical "water towers" even more urgent.
