A sigh of relief – from Yangtze to the sky

China's 10-year fishing ban on the Yangtze River is working. Between 2021 and 2025, the basin recorded 351 native fish species – 43 more than before the ban. Fish populations in the main stream have doubled, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Beyond the river, China is pushing global sustainability initiatives alongside international partners, focusing on health, green resources, and climate action. Efforts to reduce food waste are gaining momentum worldwide, with China driving a "zero-waste" future. Domestically, Beijing has nearly eliminated heavy pollution – and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
