China advances frontiers in space, speed, sustainability

Over the past week, China has made significant strides in technologies that span from space to the deep sea. Preparations are now underway for the launch of the Shenzhou-21 crewed spacecraft, with the spaceship and a Long March-2F rocket in position for final checks and tests. Meanwhile, China's Zhuque-3 reusable rocket has completed its last major ground tests ahead of its maiden flight. On the ground, China's CR450, touted as the world's fastest electric multiple unit (EMU), has been undergoing operational evaluation on the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu high-speed rail line. Its prototype, unveiled late last year, has since established new world records during trials, including a top speed of 453 km/h and a relative passing speed of 896 km/h. The country has also completed the world's first wind-powered underwater data center in Shanghai, setting a benchmark for the green development of computing infrastructure.
