Watch: The UAV revolution is being televised

This week, China announced that the next generation of UAVs has taken flight in spectacular style and the footage already has jaws dropping to the floor. China flew the world's first 16-tonne "drone mothership," the Jiutian, in northwestern Shaanxi, that can carry and deploy a swarm of smaller UAVs to overwhelm enemy defenses. Additionally, the new home-grown CH-7 stealth drone, sporting a signature flying wing design optimized for radar evasion, has successfully completed its maiden flight. China's “Eagle Eye” has flown – and is sharp enough for the hunt. Together, they signal a new era in China's UAV development, as drones evolve from single-mission aircraft into integrated systems for reconnaissance, coordination and future combat operations.
