China to launch Shenzhou-23 crewed mission to space station on May 24

China's Shenzhou-23 crewed spacecraft is scheduled to launch at 11:08 p.m. Sunday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Astronauts Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan and Lai Ka-ying will carry out the mission to the Chinese space station, with Zhu serving as the mission commander. During the mission, the crew will conduct over 100 new scientific and application projects across fields such as space life science, space materials science, microgravity fluid physics, aerospace medicine and new aerospace technologies. One astronaut will carry out a year-long in-orbit residency experiment.
