Computing is leaving the Earth

China has introduced 19 measures to speed up "new quality productive forces" – the policy push to organize production around high technology. The focus is on AI merging with industry and an energy revolution to support green growth. High tech needs computing power. And computing power needs enormous amounts of electricity and water. Space solves both. So China launched eight satellites carrying high-performance computing payloads aboard a Zhuque-2E rocket – a test bed for in-orbit computing, AI training, laser communications and thermal management. Back on Earth, the race is moving just as fast. Tesla has unveiled a redesigned Roadster developed with SpaceX, complete with built-in thrusters. Production is slated for 2028.
