AI buildout funding crumbles as China accelerates supercomputing and cancer therapy

The AI buildout is confronting a critical funding shift, as soaring capital expenditures – exemplified by Meta's dilutive stock issuance after its first cash burn in a decade – push financing beyond debt into equity. This strain is most visible in struggling smaller firms, raising concerns that money may not arrive before returns. In contrast, China unveiled its first homegrown 100,000-card AI supercluster, which uniquely integrates supercomputing with AI to eliminate hallucinations and enable advanced scientific simulations, from brain mapping to universe evolution. Simultaneously, the country is making tangible technological strides, completing a next-generation, ultra-compact heavy-ion cancer therapy accelerator that drastically cuts costs.
