Based on the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technique, it builds a local knowledge base for similarity retrieval against inputs. According to the content of your input queries, it summarizes and generates relevant news content for you, and recommends similar news reports and related queries. Protection of personal data rights: When you use the News Pal search function, we need to collect personal data such as the content of your input queries, search time, your account's browsing history and browsing time to summarize and generate relevant news content for you, and recommend similar news reports and related queries. Your personal data will be protected by encryption. If you do not wish the aforementioned personal data to be used for the aforementioned purposes, it is recommended that you do not use the News Pal search function or contact us to disable this function for you.
Security usage protection: We have established a real-time monitoring system to monitor the operational status of the algorithm, promptly identify and handle abnormal situations; perform security filtering on input and output data to prevent interference and damage from malicious data; and implement permission management and access control to ensure the security and stability of the service.

Currently, we have data storage servers in Hong Kong, Beijing, Frankfurt, Virginia, and Singapore. In accordance with the laws and regulations of your regions, we store your personal data collected and generated in the course of our operations on a server close to the region where you registered your account. Except in the following cases: If overseas transmission is necessary for business purposes, we will strictly comply with the cross-border data requirements under the applicable personal data protection laws and transfer the data to overseas storage with your consent.(e.g., We will transfer comment content, user ID, display name, comment time, article ID, approval time, and user avatar collected from you to Hong Kong, China, where the information is stored or processed. We will only store personal data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or to comply with our contractual or legal obligations. This period will not exceed what is necessary for processing the personal data, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable laws and regulations, or for regulatory or procedural purposes.
3.Local storage
For countries with localized storage requirements, we will actively communicate with your country or region to jointly achieve localized storage.
4.If you cancel your account, voluntarily delete your personal data, or after a longer period of time than necessary, we will delete your personal data (and any comments you have previously made publicly will be deleted as well). Except in the following cases:

2.The data was collected and processed to fulfill a contract between you and us;

When you delete data from our services, we may not immediately delete the corresponding data from our systems because of applicable legal and security technical restrictions, but we will store your personal data securely and will not process it any further. If you need to cancel your CGTN account, please go to the CGTN website Home → Personal → Your account → Delete your account. After you cancel your account, we will stop providing you with all CGTN products and services, and protect your information through anonymization and deletion as required by laws and regulations.
If you are unable to cancel your CGTN account by the above means, you may send us an email. We will respond to your request no later than one month after verification. We will release your mobile phone number and email address from association with your account upon successful verification of your identity, thereby effecting the account closure. Please note that closing your account is distinct from merely logging out. After you click the "Delete Account" button, a confirmation prompt titled "Confirm Account Closure" will appear. We strongly advise you to carefully read and ensure you fully understand the consequences of account closure before proceeding with confirmation.
