Summary

  • A mudslide struck the China-Nepal border in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday morning. As of 8 a.m. on Thursday, three people had been killed and 558 others remained missing in Gyirong, Xizang, while two local villagers had been rescued. Among the missing, 260 were identified as foreign nationals.

    China's Ministry of Emergency Management said the first team of 141 rescuers had arrived at the mudslide-stricken border port of Gyirong on Thursday morning. As more rescuers arrive in Xizang, full-scale rescue operations continue.

    Nepal said on Thursday that the death toll from the country's flash floods had reached 165, with 823 others still missing. The figure includes security personnel, locals, and foreign and domestic tourists.
