  • The death toll from a mudslide that struck Gyirong County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on August 26 has risen to 43, with 519 people still missing, local authorities said at a news conference on Sunday.

    The mudslide has devastated infrastructure along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, killing at least 1,344 people in Nepal and leaving another 4,898 still missing.

    Nepali rescuers on Saturday rescued a Chinese national from a hydropower plant hit by the deadly mudslide in Nepal, according to the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
